Dear Reader,

The Unstoppable Dr. Stan was seen again! No one can tell how he has found his way all over the city in such a short time. But then again, he is unstoppable, I guess when you’re unstoppable you can sort of go where you want and it’s kindof hard to stop you, huh? Anyways, this time our hero was seen with some other folks, his superhero friend The Immovable Bear, fictional Starship Captain Jackson Wolfe, and former President Abraham Lincoln (what’s that Dear Reader? How is he speaking to Abraham Lincoln when Lincoln has been dead for like 150+ years? It’s the Unstoppable Dr. Stan, don’t ask questions. He’s also speaking to a fictional character, but we just roll with it).

When a random citizen got the nerve to ask Dr. Stan why he was with the Immovable Bear, he answered “Grit” and then turned away. Well, sorry about the confusion poor citizen, I know that was a slightly cryptic answer, but let me explain for our local hero. The Immovable Bear has a lot on his plate, besides being a superhero, he’s about to have a child, he’s working full-time, and he’s in school full-time. But somehow he pushes himself through all that and just keeps on going, never faltering. That is…. Well, a good example of grit. Or at least I think that’s what Dr. Stan meant. Feel free to ask him again random citizen, I’m sure that will go well.

To move on from this random citizen, I happened to be around when our local hero met with his friends and had a chance to speak to Captain Wolfe. It was rather disconcerting, speaking with a fictional hero, but Dear Reader, your Author will never give up when there is a story to be had! Anyways, I asked him what made him come to life from the pages of his novel. His answer intrigued me, “Well, Dr. Stan there said I had a lesson to teach the world. He said I needed to show everyone how when you show your vulnerability that others will trust you more. I don’t completely get it myself, but I guess you’ll just have to read my novels to get it.” Well now Dear Reader, I guess I have some reading to do.

With our last friendly face, besides the Unstoppable Dr. Stan of course, one passerby happened to take this chance to speak to a dead guy! I mean, who can resist that? I mean, I did Dear Reader, but that’s cause I’m not about to be responsible for the zombie apocalypse. Anyways, when this passerby was speaking to President Lincoln, he couldn’t help extolling on Lincoln’s virtues, “I had always been impressed sir at how you were able to deal with setback after setback! Your army was losing battle after battle and General Lee was just showing the world that the Confederacy had the power to defeat one of the mightiest armies in the world. The resilience you showed there… just wow.” Which, I’ll admit, seemed an odd thing to be saying to a zombie, Dear Reader, but it turned out fine, no zombie apocalypse, so I won’t complain.

Unfortunately, no one got the chance to speak directly to the Unstoppable Dr. Stan. Before any interview could happen and his identity finally revealed, our local hero pulled out his smartphone and saw that he was needed across town (Dr. Stan has a smartphone? Where in the world does he keep it? Don’t worry Dear Reader, this Author will keep asking the important questions and digging for the answers). A flash of lightning and the Unstoppable Dr. Stan was just gone. Stay tuned for the next sighting of our local hero! Who knows where he will pop up next or what hijinks he will be up to?

Sincerely,

The Author

Your crew of heros certainly has no shortage of fables! But, how does Dr. Stan practice grit, vulnerability, and resilience? That's where the true front-page news is at, Dear Author.
